DICE provided a few details on the changes to expect once the “Battlefield 2042” update 4.0 goes live. The developer confirmed that Specialists Rao and Paik are getting a few tweaks as part of the more than 400 bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements included in the next patch.
DICE community manager Kevin Johnson gave “Battlefield 2042” players some context on the updates coming to the game soon in a series of tweets on Wednesday. Johnson said Rao’s and Paik’s traits are going to be updated in the next version.
Update 4.0 for #Battlefield 2042 is set to go live next week, with the Patch Notes going live at the start of that week too.

There are over 400+ Individual Fixes, Bugs, and QoL Improvements to go through next week.
Here are some key bits until the Patch Notes go live. pic.twitter.com/vh1VZV5Y76
Rao’s Trojan Network trait lets him find nearby enemies once he kills a hacked opponent. Paik, on the other hand, has the Threat Perception trait that allows her to spot enemies firing at her. Johnson did not provide specifics on how these traits will be fixed, so “Battlefield 2042” players will have to wait for the release of the patch notes. DICE is also improving Sundance’s Grenade Belt that will limit its Anti-Armor Grenade’s scope to just the “immediate vicinity rather than things football fields away.”
The new Specialists system, which replaced the series’ staple Class system, has been one of the common issues players raised since “Battlefield 2042” launched. Johnson noted that these changes for Rao and Paik are not part of overall changes that could come to the Specialists system.
“These were changes that the team felt they wanted to happen in regards to how they play,” Johnson said about the updates coming soon for Rao and Paik. But DICE had previously told fans that it has assigned a team to analyze the Specialists system, but the developer has yet to provide more details on how it could change in the future.
Johnson also said that “Battlefield 2042” version 4.0 will contain more than 400 fixes and improvements. Some of them include updates to Ribbons and balancing changes for Support Actions and Teamplay XP. DICE is also balancing vehicle warfare, along with a general “overhaul” of the attachments. “Battlefield 2042” update 4.0 will be released next week, while the official patch notes will be available at the start of the week.
