CHICAGO, Oct. 13, 2016 -- Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas, is now utilizing dbMotion™ Solution to streamline the exchange of electronic health record (EHR) data between disparate EHR systems used by more than 3,800 physicians who care for 2.7 plus million patients. The healthcare system uses the Allscripts (NASDAQ:MDRX) dbMotion interoperability platform to coordinate care with harmonized, structured data at the point of care. dbMotion is an integral piece of CareInMotion™, Allscripts’ population health platform.
With a national focus on interoperability and examples of stressed financial repercussions with single-system approaches, many organizations are alternatively turning to advanced, EHR-agnostic technology to exchange health data successfully.
“Everything we do is aimed at improving the patient experience,” said Joel T. Allison, CEO, Baylor Scott & White Health. “As we continue our commitment to population health management and transforming how health care is delivered, it’s important that our clinicians working on different EHR systems can access a single, comprehensive view of the patient’s health record.”
According to a recent ONC report, the most common reason clinicians do not use data from other systems is because it is not available in their EHR workflow. Baylor Scott & White Health is connecting its multiple disparate systems using dbMotion, which delivers relevant patient data to providers using the dbMotion™ Agent within their EHR native workflow. The dbMotion Agent alerts providers when new clinical information is available on their patients to help improve the provider-patient experience.
“Since Allscripts dbMotion went live with Baylor Scott & White Health in March 2015, we have helped the system process more than 36 million messages and have loaded more than 2.7 million patients,” said Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Paul M. Black. “The technology provides a more complete picture of the patient’s electronic health record across the health system.”
