As if there was any doubt, the Switch port of the hugely popular Bayonetta title is currently anticipated with overwhelming enthusiasm from players as it approaches release. Based on benchmark tests conducted and the proven track record of the game, it would surprise no one if the game outsells even its original version once it launches on the Switch.
The original Bayonetta game was received with wide critical acclaim after it launched for the PS3 and Xbox 360, Forbes reports. The sequel was a bit of an odd duck since it launched as an exclusive title for the unfortunate failure of a console that was the Nintendo Wii U, but that’s in the past.
What’s more important now is the Switch version and according to the tests conducted by Digital Foundry, this is the best version of the title yet, at least on consoles. The portable device simply doesn’t have the power to compete with the PC version.
In any case, the benchmarks prove that Nintendo’s portable unit is capable of running the hugely demanding action fantasy title in all the ways that mattered. The textures and graphics are highly improved and while docked, the Switch version runs at a buttery smooth 60fps for the most part.
However, the greatest strength of the Switch version of the game is that it can be played while on the move. Even if the players have to sacrifice that oh so sacred 60fps, the simple fact that they can continue playing the game when on the toilet or on the bus makes it the obvious version to get.
For gamers who do have the Switch, it’s largely agreed that there’s hardly any reason to get the remastered title on any other console since they don’t really offer nearly the same level of freshness as Nintendo’s product. For those who don’t have the Switch, they’re free to get Bayonetta for whatever platform they have.
