“Better Call Saul” season 5 has been renewed several months ago and AMC made the announcement during the Television Critics’ Association (TCA) Press Tour. It was actually a surprised notice because, at the time, season 4 has yet to premiere.
In the previous season’s finale, Chuck’s death triggered Jimmy’s transformation to Saul Goodman. He will have to face the criminals as a lawyer and this will test his character too – how much did he change?
At any rate, here is what the viewers can expect from “Better Call Saul” season 5: showrunner Peter Gould revealed in his Entertainment Weekly interview that the drama will highlight Jimmy McGill’s transformation. This is to say that he will be Saul Goodman in the fifth installment.
"It seems like Jimmy's first move is to try to leverage all the contacts he has in the world of selling drop phones,” the showrunner shared. “The question is: how does he establish a reputation as not just a criminal lawyer but a criminal lawyer? Because situations may require him to do things and turn a blind eye to things that Jimmy McGill would not be able to stomach."
Now, last year, it was reported that “Better Call Saul” season 5 has started filming already but this proved to be false info when KOB News 4 reported that the cast and crew have yet to go back to the set.
It was said that “Better Call Saul” season 5’s shoot will begin on April 10 and it will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 10, 2019. Further, the report indicated that the production team is aiming to end the filming by August. Fans can expect more episodes, up to 20, since this can also be the series' finale.
“Better Call Saul” season 5 will see the return of Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill, Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler and Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut. Lastly, the show has no premiere date yet since there are still lots of things to do once filming is done.
