GAITHERSBURG, Md. and TOKYO, Nov. 17, 2016 -- BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:BSFT), a global unified communication as a service (UCaaS) leader, announced today that its BroadSoft BroadCloud® call control platform and BroadSoft UC-One® application have been selected by one of Japan’s largest Internet Service Providers, Biglobe, to provide mobile and premise-based unified communications services to its customers. The service, marketed under the name “Biglobe Phone Biz,” will be targeted at small and medium sized businesses throughout Japan.
BroadCloud is a Software as a Service (SaaS) that enables service providers to deliver the comprehensive UC-One unified communications application to new and existing customers without the need for significant capital investments. BroadCloud can also significantly decrease the time to market for service provider customers by eliminating the time consuming process of “building” these services from the ground up. As an example, the Biglobe Phone Biz service was designed and deployed on the BroadCloud platform in a little over four months. A more “conventionally designed” service would take well over a year to deploy.
Biglobe started operations in 1996 and is now one of the largest Internet and mobile service providers in Japan. Biglobe has a number of broadband and mobile telephony subscribers and is targeting its Biglobe Phone Biz service at fast moving and innovative small to mid-sized businesses. The service will provide a “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) offering as well as a solution for fully functional cloud PBX capabilities for office phone environments.
Jonathan Reid, managing director, Japan, Asia Pacific and South/Central America, BroadSoft, said “We are very pleased with the momentum of our BroadCloud and UC-One offerings in Japan and are looking forward to working closely with Biglobe as they deploy the Biglobe Phone Biz service throughout the country. There is a definite shift underway in Japan in the small business communications market, and innovative companies like Biglobe are at the forefront of this change.”
In November 2015, BroadSoft expanded into the Japanese market with the acquisition of Tokyo-based PBXL Inc., now named BroadSoft Japan KK, a provider of cloud-based communication solutions.
