The Bitcoin Alliance of Canada has announced the Blockchain Training Conference will be held on June 20-21, in Toronto, in collaboration with The Bitcoin Foundation and CryptoCurrency Certification Consortium (C4). It will be hosted at MaRS Discovery District, home to Canada’s first dedicated FinTech Cluster, supporting the commercializing of financial technology.

“MaRS FinTech is thrilled to host this blockchain training opportunity,” said Dinaro Ly, Director, MaRS FinTech. “Toronto is a hotbed for cryptocurrency innovation with dozens of startups and an active community pursuing decentralized technologies.”

The 2-day event is a follow-up to Bitcoin Alliance of Canada’s Bitcoin Expo event held in April 2014. It will focus on training that is similar to The Bitcoin Foundation’s DevCore events hosted in Boston, London, and San Mateo and will train both technical and non-technical professionals in multiple fields.

The event will be divided into two tracks:

  • The Alliance Track will host non-technical training sessions
  • The DevCore track will host technical training sessions

Attendees will pay one price to attend the 2-day event and will be free to move between the two tracks and choose which skills they will learn. They will get an opportunity to receive practical hands-on training from accounting, legal, and technical experts working regularly with blockchains. The event features professionally relevant topics including software development, accounting, legal, security, blockchain investigations, and even a crash-course in blockchains 101.

“The Blockchain Training Conference is a new kind of conference” says Michael Perklin, one of the Bitcoin Alliance of Canada’s directors. “Not only will the event be the first 2-day blockchain training event ever, but it will be the first one where attendees can walk away with real certifications in the field, as well as continuing education credits for professional credentials.”

The conference seeks to address the confusion and doubts of professionals about how blockchain technology works and how it can be applied to existing systems. It is being organized to train accountants, lawyers, business executives, developers, and other professionals in using the new technology so they have the skills needed to succeed.
