As the current season is nearing its midseason finale, fans of the police procedural are already asking if CBS will be ordering “Blue Bloods” Season 10. So far, the network hasn’t announced anything which leaves the series’ fate up in the air.
However, judging by the reception that the series is currently enjoying, it’s reasonable to assume that “Blue Bloods” Season 10 will be happening. According to Ranker, the show is one of CBS’ most popular series, landing in fourth place behind “Criminal Minds,” “Salvation,” and “NCIS.”
This isn’t surprising since the dynamic relationship of the Reagan family always provides compelling storylines for its audiences. Combined that with the thrilling cases that the protagonists have to deal with and the formula is as gripping as anyone could hope for. However, there is the matter of contract signing to consider. Some fans are worried that “Blue Bloods” Season 10 could be bench by CBS since the main cast of the series has yet to renew their respective contracts.
Tom Selleck – who’s playing household patriarch Frank Reagan – offered an explanation for the subject. “Typically, most cast members sign contracts for six or seven years upon joining a show, and then after that, they tend to negotiate on an annual or semi-annual basis. A lot of it depends on each actor’s desire to continue the show, the monetary value of the contract, studio demands, or other factors,” the actor explained. To put shortly, negotiations still need to be met by CBS and the cast before news about “Blue Bloods” Season 10 is pushed out the door.
As for the episode count of the next installment, it’s likely that the network will order 22 more for “Blue Bloods” Season 10. All of its predecessors have been handled the same way and there’s no reason at the moment to change that formula.
The same thing can be said for its release date. All nine seasons has been dropped on the month of September so it’s safe to assume that “Blue Bloods” Season 10 will get a similar treatment.
