“Borderlands 3” has been plagued with bad news recently following Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford’s announcement that the looter-shooter will be an Epic Game Store exclusive for six months. Now, it seems that some of that heat has been alleviated as the game is set to be unveiled tomorrow, Variety reported.
While a reveal “Borderlands 3” gameplay demo would’ve been insufficient to stave off some of the hate from the EGS exclusivity, it’s the game’s ECHOcast Extension that made the difference. Simply put, the extension will allow Twitch viewers to interact with a streamer’s loadouts, inventory, and skill tree.
This is quite important as viewers will no longer need to ask their favorite streamer to highlight the aforementioned features, allowing them the freedom to inspect these mechanics with ease. To add to the “Borderlands 3” hype train, there will also be a rare chest event tomorrow that would reward some viewers should a streamer find a certain Red Chest.
There will be four of these Red Chests hidden within “Borderlands 3.” If a streamer finds one, viewers will have a 30-second window to open that particular chest. However, only 25 percent of viewers will be chosen as a recipient. Those who are lucky enough to be picked at random will be provided with yet another 30-second opportunity to choose the item inside that box. If a viewer fails to take advantage of the limited window, the reward given will be chosen at random.
It’s also important to remember that the free loot will be scaled equal to a player’s level, eliminating the chance of getting super lucky and landing an overpowered weapon. Another thing to remember is that viewers will need to link their SHiFT account with their Twitch account to qualify for the event. The “Borderlands 3” will be divided into two sessions.
The first will take place between 10:45 am to 1:45 pm PT, while second will star from 4:45 pm 7:45 pm PT. Regarding the release date of “Borderlands 3,” it’s been scheduled to drop on Sept. 13, 2019. However, for those who don’t want to purchase the game through EGS, they’ll need to wait until April 2020 for the exclusivity to end, which means waiting a full year as of this writing.
