The expectations for “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 87 are somewhat better than the latest episodes mostly because of a new opponent to be introduced. The titular character is anticipated to be in another battle with a very powerful enemy named Kakou.
Teasers for “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 87 reveal that Kakou will be sent by Ku to meet with Onoki and fight Boruto. Kakou is also described as an artificial human specifically created for battles. It appears that he is programmed to wield the powerful Dust Release ninjutsu as well.
Without a doubt, Boruto is not yet prepared for this level of battle. But the same teaser (translated by Twitter user OrganicDinosaur) also hints at “unexpected reinforcements” arriving in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 87.
Meanwhile, it is also revealed that Onoki will appeal to Kakou in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 87 in the hopes of preventing another explosive battle. But Kakou is an artificial human not designed to have emotions. However, as shown through Sekiei in previous episodes, it took Mitsuki some time to teach him to sympathize and later the two bonded over a “secret” just like friends do.
It is also interesting who the “unexpected reinforcements” are going to be. Inojin, Sarada, and Chocho seem to be running back to Konoha. Shikadai, on the other hand, has his own mission to finish in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 87.
Shikadai has been on an undercover mission while inside Hidden Stone to collect as many information as he can. He now has enough information to report to their superiors back in Hidden Leaf. But nothing comes easy in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 87 as he needs to outwit the horde of Akuta guarding the Hidden Stone gates.
Note that “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 87 airing on Sunday, Dec. 23, as well as the following installments, is still part of the Mitsuki’s Disappearance arc. While a Mitsuki-focused storyline was first welcomed by fans, some viewers now say they are “starting to lose [their] patience” because of the anime series’ slow pace. Hopefully, the upcoming episodes are good enough to win back the fans.
