Manga readers have been counting on Momoshiki to show up at some point in the ongoing fight against Isshiki. That is the most likely plot twist happening in “Boruto” chapter 53, but what remains unpredictable is whose side will benefit from his appearance.
Why it makes more sense for Momoshiki to fight Isshiki
Momoshiki has bones to pick with both Naruto and Isshiki. Naruto and Sasuke greatly contributed to his previous defeat that led to Boruto killing him. Meanwhile, it is very likely that Momoshiki is already aware Isshiki is planning to use Boruto (essentially Momoshiki) as a sacrifice to be fed to the Ten-Tails to grow the God Tree.
The previous events in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” suggest that Momoshiki was also interested in planting the God Tree, which means he would not like the idea of becoming the sacrificial lamb as Isshiki plans on doing. On the other hand, he cannot kill Isshiki in “Boruto” chapter 53 because he would also need him if he wants to be the one to consume the Chakra Fruit. As Amado explained, Otsutsukis arrive on a planet in pairs because one of them has to be fed to the Ten-Tails so they could grow the God Tree.
‘Boruto’ chapter 53: Kawaki is in trouble
Kawaki’s fate in “Boruto” chapter 53 might be easier to predict. Isshiki confirmed in chapter 52 that his life span has been reduced to 10 minutes after Naruto activated his new Baryon Mode. However, Isshiki was able to drag Kawaki to the foreign dimension just in time before he dies. Since Kawaki was seen with the kama seal in the flash-forward scene from the first-ever chapter of the series, Isshiki is very likely to succeed in making Kawaki his vessel once more.
‘Boruto’ chapter 53 release date, where to read
The last panel in chapter 52 only shows Boruto’s right eye, which led to many fans thinking it was a teaser of his Jougan being activated. However, considering the ongoing fight it seems that it was actually hinting at Momoshiki joining the fight in “Boruto” chapter 53.
Fans will have a few more weeks to review the events from previous chapters because “Boruto” chapter 53 will not be released anytime soon. Manga readers will have to wait until Dec. 20 to see the chapter on Manga Plus and Viz Media.
