Nashville, Tenn., Aug. 10, 2017 -- BrandSafway, a global scaffolding and industrial services company with a strong local presence in Nashville, is donating and installing 300 feet of guardrail around a rooftop viewing space at the city’s Adventure Science Center. Secured nine feet from the edge, the railing will ensure everyone and everything – large crowds, local TV crews, cameras and telescopes – all remain safe throughout the excitement of viewing the upcoming eclipse.

The eclipse, which will occur on Monday, August 21, offers a fantastic opportunity for the Adventure Science Center to shine in its mission of getting people interested in science. The Center, which has been bringing science to life for students, teachers and families in Tennessee and across the U.S. for more than 70 years, has planned a three-day eclipse festival. The event is expected to attract thousands of visitors, all culminating in an eclipse viewing party on the roof of the sprawling facility.
Installing perimeter guard rails is just one of many services Safway provides; BrandSafway delivers complex access and industrial service solutions at commercial, infrastructure and industrial jobsites around the world.
“As a company, we rely heavily on geometry, math and physics to do what we do – provide safe, creative access in all kinds of spaces and situations,” said Safway Nashville Branch Manager Steve Gorman. “So it’s a natural fit for BrandSafway to wholeheartedly support science education, and we’re especially happy to help Adventure Science Center, right here in Nashville, as they hold this great event to inspire understanding of the physical world around us.”
With over 8,200 jobsites around the world, BrandSafway has 17,600 miles (or nearly 93,000,000 feet) of scaffold in its inventory, ready to handle any access challenge. “That means BrandSafway has enough scaffold to circle the moon just a little over two and a half times,” explained Gorman. (The circumference of the moon is 6,786 miles: 17,600 miles of scaffolding, divided by 6,786 miles equals 2.59.)
