Burger King stirs up the fast food industry with the new Shrimp Whopper, a tantalizing surf and turf burger, debuting in Japan. Concurrently, U.S. patrons will face increased delivery charges when ordering through the BK App.
Each sandwich has lettuce, tomato, onion rings, and a creamy mayonnaise sauce. This mouth-watering surf and turf combo is available in three sizes: junior, regular, and double. Prices will start at 540 yen (US$3.83) for the junior, 890 yen for the regular and 1,240 yen for the double.
If you're feeling extra adventurous, you should opt for the Double Shrimp Whopper, which includes an extra beef patty for added turf. The Shrimp Whopper Junior is perfect for surf and turf first-timers and is sure to tantalize taste buds and leave consumers craving for more. "Surf and turf" is a phrase not often used in Japan, but Burger King is here to popularize the term.
But these burgers are available for a limited time, from 16 June in most Burger King locations across Japan, while stocks last. However, they will not be available at the Tokyo Racecourse and Youme Town Omuta branches. In contrast, the Hakata Station Chikushi Exit branch is expected to add Shrimp Whopper to its menu in early July.
Over in the U.S., Burger King patrons using the BK App or ordering online can expect to shell out more dough. Fast food deliveries will be subjected to a $1 delivery fee, a 15% service fee, and a $2.50 small cart fee for orders between $5 and $9.99.
California customers would have to pay extra for a $2 geographical fee charged by the delivery system. For orders $10 and above, it's an additional $1 delivery fee plus a 15% service fee.
