Treyarch has announced when "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" pre-order customers on PC can begin pre-loading, and the studio also revealed a 120fps cap for Blackout mode at launch.
Those who pre-ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for PC through Battle.net will be able to pre-load the game on Tuesday, October 9, VG 247 reported. This should give gamers plenty of time to get ready for the game’s release on October 12.
It was also revealed that Call of Duty" Blackout's the battle royale mode, will be capped at 120fps on PC when it launches. Treyarch said it is committed to supporting an uncapped framerate, but it wants to “roll things out carefully.”
"Since the framerate affects the load on the servers, we want to ensure that the game delivers a great playable experience for everyone who dives in those first moments," the developer said in a post on r/Blackops4.
Because the frame rate affects the load on the servers, the studio said it wants to “ensure the game delivers a great playable experience,” during its first moments.
"This is the right plan to ensure a smooth, playable game for the whole community out of the gate," Treyarch added.
Once the team feels the servers are stable, it will raise the cap to 144fps. Should all go well, it will enable uncapped framerates within the first few days, EuroGamer reported. This only applies to "Call of Duty" Blackout. Zombies and multiplayer modes in Black Ops 4 will be uncapped day-one.
Upon "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" releases next week it will include 14 maps, or 15 when the free Nuketown map is included. It releases in November. The PC version of Blackout, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode, will be capped at 120fps at launch. Treyarch is collaborating with fellow Activision-owned studio Beenox on the PC version of Black Ops 4. The developers have promised it's not a port, but rather the development of the PC version was worked on simultaneously alongside the console versions.
