“Call of Duty Mobile” players have a lot to look forward to in the coming days ahead. A new “CoD Mobile” update is set to arrive later this week bringing a new map and new modes. What’s even more exciting is the 2020 Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship which will start on April 30.
2020 Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship
“CoD Mobile” players will soon have the chance to compete in the 2020 Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship, Engadget reported. Activision announced that more than $1 million in prizes are up for grabs in the upcoming esports tournament.
Stage 1 of the World Championship, also known as the open online qualifies, will take place between April 30 and May 24. The requirement is that players need to be ranked veteran or higher in multiplayer so that they can join the first stage.
There are also a few rules in place take to make sure that everyone will be on a level playing field. For instance, only eligible handsets are allowed in the tournament. In addition, players are not allowed to use any “external device or attachment of any kind that modifies the game's controls (e.g. BlueTooth controllers, wired controllers, mouse, keyboard, etc.) without the express consent of the Administration,” according to the game’s blog post.
Using a desktop emulator is also prohibited. “Players who are found to be in violation may be disqualified from participating in any future Call of Duty® Mobile tournaments,” the CoD Mobile team added.
To qualify for the Stage 2 of the 2020 Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship, players need to 80 tournament points. Players can earn points by playing their first ten ranked matches. “Tournament points are based on individual wins and your current rank; the higher your rank the more points you receive for a win,” the blog explained.

Meanwhile, Activision will be rolling out a new “Call of Duty Mobile” update this week, according to Dot Esports. The update is expected to contain new maps and modes that were tested earlier this month.
The update is expected to roll out the one-versus-one, “Kill Confirmed,” and “Capture the Flag” modes. It will also bring the Rust map from the CoD: Modern Warfare into the mobile game, which will likely be playable on May 1.
