“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” players on Xbox appear to be experiencing an issue with matchmaking. Infinity Ward, the game’s developer, has recognized the bug and said it has launched an investigation.
The developer confirmed the matchmaking issue over the weekend and has informed players through its official Trello board and an announcement on Twitter. Infinity Ward did not elaborate much on the problem but said the issue is experienced when a team of more than three players on Xbox is queuing for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” matchmaking.
The way Infinity Ward phrased the multiplayer issue, the specific issue may be that Xbox players are experiencing longer queuing times in matchmaking. But players on the said console system should still be able to access “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II,” albeit with a longer waiting period as usual.
Since the issue is still under investigation, Infinity Ward is likely still looking at what is causing it. As of this writing, the developer has yet to announce a fix. But “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” players can follow updates on this matter through the same Trello board.
Infinity Ward has also recognized several other issues in “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” multiplayer. One of them is a bug that is preventing opposing players from hearing the sound of suppressed weapons. The developer said the issue has been observed by “some players,” and it appears that it is still being investigated.
Other issues are close to getting fixed, though. Infinity Ward confirmed a bug that causes the APC to get stuck when it respawns in a certain location in the Santa Seña map in Ground War. The developer also recognized an issue that caused helicopters to leave the map. At the moment, both bugs are already marked as having a “fix coming in future update.”
Activision announced earlier this month that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II” has become the franchise’s fastest and best-selling game after surpassing a $1 billion sell-through just 10 days after it launched. The 2022 instalment broke the record previously held by “Black Ops II,” which crossed $1 billion in sales in 15 days following its global release in 2012.
