CLEARWATER, Fla., March 09, 2016 -- On 24 February, the Church of Scientology’s Charity Coalition hosted 122 representatives and members of nonprofit organizations for its first luncheon for 2016 in the Fort Harrison’s Crystal Ballroom.
Jennifer Webb, Community Affairs representative for the Church of Scientology in Clearwater in welcoming guests, said, “All of you are not alone in knowing something can be done to help your fellow man. Humanitarian and Scientology Founder, L. Ron Hubbard, wrote, ‘If one does not like the crime, cruelty, injustice and violence of this society, he can do something about it. He can help civilize it, bring it conscience and kindness and love and freedom from travail by instilling into it trust, decency, honesty and tolerance.”
Ms. Webb highlighted the Scientology Volunteer Ministers and their Florida headquarters which opened in July 2015. The Scientology Volunteer Ministers is one of the world’s largest independent relief forces, and has partnered with over 1,000 different rescue organizations, community leaders and support personnel bringing relief during times of disaster.
The luncheon’s featured charity was the Hillsborough Education Foundation. Senior Associate Director of Development, Ms. Rachael Nickie, gave a presentation on the mission, services and programs provided by the Foundation working in partnership with the Public Schools. Their program includes giving financial assistance to students, and education resources, such as materials, to teachers. A short video clip was shown on the assistance that they provide to students with materials and finances.
Ms. Teri Morrow, co-founder of my Benefit Partners LLC, gave a 15-minute educational presentation on fundraising and donor development.
The next Charity Coalition event is on April 20th in the Fort Harrison. In honor of National Volunteer Month, Tampa Bay area nonprofits and their volunteers will be recognized for their contributions to the community. There is no cost to attend and families are welcome.
The Charity Coalition of Tampa Bay was established in September 2014 for like-minded individuals to network and collaborate on their programs to create a better community for all. Ten Charity Coalition events have been held since, bringing together over 1,100 members of nonprofits.
To RSVP, please contact Jennifer Webb at (727) 467-6860.
