Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan (CCBJ) has built a production line to manufacture roughly 900 small PET bottles per minute and create Costa Coffee and Ayataka Cafe andproducts.
The Coca-Cola Co. acquired Costa for $5.1 billion in 2019.
The production line, which will be the fifth in the factory in the city of Ebina , will start operating in April.
A spokesperson for CCBJ said they will strive for stable production and supply of small PET bottle products mainly for the Kanto region and other areas in eastern Japan.
Last year, CCBJ opened an automated distribution center in Akashi, where it has a production facility.
The center now houses CCBJ’s largest storage and shipping infrastructure, capable of storing approximately 60,000 pallets and shipping roughly 80 million cases per year.
CCBJ plans to integrate the sorting, picking, and storing activities at sales sites across the region into the Akashi distribution center.
