Coca-Cola announces its storytelling initiative with its “Christmas Always Finds Its Way” short films trilogy. For this project, the beverage company has teamed up with Amazon Prime Video and Imagine Entertainment.
Coca-Cola will release short films on Amazon Prime this week, and these are expected to be promoted heavily throughout the rest of the holiday season. According to Deadline, the collection of selected literary pieces was created in collaboration with Prettybird production company.
The production firm assigned its talented directors to film movies in their respective home countries. The theme was described as “common” and about the “real and magical connection in the holiday season.”
Some of the directors that have participated in Coca-Cola’s Christmas movie project include Brazilian director named Vellas. He filmed “Alma”, which tells the story of a town in Mexico that is known for its all-year-round production of Christmas decorations, however, the hands that make these decors lost the Christmas spirit until it was rekindled by an unexpected source.
The second film was made by French filmmaker and producer, J.B. Braud. It has been titled “Les Petits Mondes De Noel.” This is about a Parisian couple who have been estranged for a long time but reconnected while they were creating decorative holiday window displays.
The third movie is titled “Christmas Bites”, and it was filmed by American cinematographer Alex Buono. This is a comedy and tells about a Christmas Eve face-off between Santa Claus and a grudgeful vampire.
These Coca-Cola Christmas short films only run for around 10 to 15 minutes, but they are meaningful. They have subtitles and feature the language where it was made.
“We got a call from Coke and their agency Grey with this insight that around the holidays there’s a lot of different traditions,” Marc Gilbar, Imagine Entertainment’s executive vice president, told Deadline in an interview. “Coca-Cola has always been an intrinsic part of Christmas traditions around the world.”
He added, “But another thing people do is they sit down with their families and watch Christmas movies, and back in the day that might have been on a VHS tape. Outside of the traditional advertising Coke does so well, they felt like they have the credibility in connection to the holiday to try their hand at some longer format storytelling.”
