In line with the recent efforts to expand globally, Coinbase, a San Francisco-based bitcoin wallet and platform that facilitates bitcoin transactions, has announced the expansion of its services to Singapore, thereby setting its foot in the Asian market.
"Customers in Singapore will be able to buy and sell bitcoin with Singapore dollars using Coinbase starting at 8am SGT on Thursday, September 3rd", the company said in a blog post.
Coinbase aims to make payments more open and efficient around the world. To celebrate the launch, it will waive its retail conversion fees for Singapore customers of the direct Buy/Sell service, through September 09 (11:59 Pacific time),
"As one of the fastest-growing financial capitals in the world, Singapore represents an important market for us. To date, more than 15,000 people in Singapore have signed up for a Coinbase Wallet, and by extending our buy and sell service to the country, we're helping to make their on-ramp to the bitcoin world as simple and as safe as possible moving forward," said David Farmer, international expansion lead at Coinbase, reported by Techcruch.
