“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Season 4 is going to be the last installment for the musical comedy-drama, with Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) going to go through some major introspection of her own. When asked about why the upcoming installment will be the last, Bloom said that the whole premise of the show wasn’t written for extended seasons, Express reported.
“This is about a young woman in a very specific time in her life, going through a crisis. And that just doesn’t sustain itself for nine seasons. I’m an avid TV watcher, and I feel like a lot of shows peak around season four, season five, and just last way too long,” Bloom explained. As such, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Season 4 will be tying all the loose ends in order to provide its followers with a satisfying ending.
Indeed, Bloom herself said that they included a lot of things in “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Season 4 that haven’t been done on the show before. “That’s to please all the millennials out there,” Bloom jested.
In addition to reprising her role, Bloom will also write an episode for the series, the first for the actress. Meanwhile, show creator and showrunner Aline Brosh McKenna will be directing the finale herself.
As mentioned earlier, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Season 4 will have Rebecca wrestle with her inner demons after declining her opportunity to plead insanity in her case of first-degree murder. Bloom said that the character will have to merge the pieces that she learned from season 1 and implement them in a way that isn’t detrimental to herself and everyone around her.
The previous installment set this plotline nicely as the writers made Rebecca take responsibility for her actions even if it meant going to jail. She recognized that she has a problematic behavior that she needs to address, a fact that will unfold in “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Season 4. The next installment will premiere on Oct. 12.
