Unlike the previous installments, “Criminal Minds” season 15 will pick up from a surprising peaceful finale. But while no one from the team is left in danger, the fans are left hanging about the real score of JJ (A. J. Cook) and Reid’s (Matthew Gray Gubler) relationship.
To briefly recap, the last unsub in season 14 loved to play Truth or Dare in a very twisted way. JJ and Reid experienced it for themselves when the unsub required them to let out a juicy secret or else someone will die. JJ obliged by saying she has “always loved” Reid. But what does this mean for “Criminal Minds” season 15? Is this going to develop into something real that would also cost JJ her long-time marriage?
300: CopingOn the Season 14 premiere, we finally got more intel on that infamous Redskins date, and a little heartache to boot.

Before that could be answered, JJ and Reid also need to hash things out after that confession. While Reid assured JJ that “everything’s okay” the ending scenes of season 14 implied that they both love each other not in a friendly or brotherly/sisterly kind. Luckily, showrunner Erica Messer confirmed that “Criminal Minds” season 15 will begin by revisiting this moment, which to some fans was just absurd.
“We’re going to dive into that in the first two hours [of ‘Criminal Minds’ season 15] because we can’t leave everybody hanging and then pretend it didn’t happen,” Messer told TVLine. “It’s definitely a huge driver for the first handful of episodes that will help add layers to those characters again.”
Messer also promised that discussing JJ and Reid’s relationship will also tackle the fact that she has been in a loving marriage with William LaMontagne Jr. (Josh Stewart) and share two children together. “We deal with that in the first two hours of the final 10 because that needs some explanation and some tender care, really, to have her be fair to everyone,” the executive producer said. “Criminal Minds” season 15 will have the final 10 episodes of the series that will premiere later this year.
