“Cyberpunk 2077” will undoubtedly be one of the contenders gunning for next year’s Game of the Year award. This isn’t surprising since the title is one of the most anticipated games in 2020 thanks to the reputation built by CD Projekt throughout the years.
There are a lot of aspects that make “Cyberpunk 2077” great. One of them is how extensive the world has been developed despite the setting only place on a single location.
Called Night City, players will be traversing through neon-bombarded streets and dark alleyways controlled by several shady groups and large criminal organization. We’ve already spoken about the former, now let’s discuss the corporate giants in “Cyberpunk 2077.”
Cyberpunk 2077 and the various megacorps operating in Night City
Corporations in the game are essentially superpowers vying for complete control of Night City. And similar to other gangs in “Cyberpunk 2077,” there will be several of them operating within the area that has varying expertise in specific fields. CD Projekt’s Alvin Liu provided some info about this front when he spoke with Wccftech.
First, we have Militech, the same company that V got tangled into in the gameplay demo released last year. Militech, as many already deduced, is sort of like the American military faction in “Cyberpunk 2077.” Tech, weapons, security, and other businesses revolving around those aspects are the general dealings of this group.
Next, we have Arasaka. Liu said that this faction is a Japanese group that collided with Militech in the past resulting in a nuclear bomb being installed within Night City. Liu said that Arasaka is quite secretive with its dealings and didn’t provide additional background on the company. Lastly, we have Orbital Air. Think of them as the Tesla/Space X in the world of “Cyberpunk 2077.”
Cyberpunk 2077’s next gameplay demo will drop during PAX West
These three are the only ones that Liu spoke about but admitted that there are numerous more operating inside Night City. Of course, players will likely run into all these corporations as the story of “Cyberpunk 2077” progresses.
Hopefully, we see Arasaka or Orbital Air in the next gameplay demo. CD Projekt already revealed that PAX West would be the event that will showcase the demo, which will take place on Aug. 30 to Sept 2. As for when “Cyberpunk 2077” will hit the shelves, the studio slated its release date of April 16, 2020. Standard price is at $59.99.
