Early impressions for Bungie’s Destiny 2 FPS have been good, to say the least. However, this doesn’t mean that there are no issues. According to new announcements, it would seem that the game will be locked at 30 frames per second on consoles, regardless of whether it’s the PlayStation 4 Pro or the Xbox One Scorpio. There’s also the matter of the PC version being delayed, which might make the PS4 version the better choice for gamers.
Bungie’s head of PC division David Shaw recently spoke to PC Gamer and confirmed that a legitimate PC version of Destiny 2 is coming. This time, it isn’t going to be a mere port but an actual working version once it launches for the platform. In the same interview, Shaw also revealed that console versions of the game will not be able to play it at 60FPS or beyond while PC players can enjoy even more than that.
“It is 30 on the consoles,” Shaw said when asked about console frame rates. “But like I said, I think the mouse and keyboard switch really was far more impactful than going to a higher framerate. And it does play at 60 but the framerate is uncapped.”
On that note, it would seem that the PC version of the game will be delayed and there haven’t been definitive details on when exactly it is coming, Forbes reports. As a result, day-one players will need to decide if they want to play the game on the PS4 or the Xbox One. Based on content and number of potential online players, it seems the former has more to offer than the later.
While Bungie’s deal with Sony to give its console more exclusive content has often been criticized, it nevertheless has plenty of appeal. What’s more, the PS4 outsold the Xbox One 2-to-1, which makes it likely that the online player pairing pool will be bigger. Naturally, there are plenty of other factors to take into consideration, but these might just be enough for a lot of gamers.
