“Dexter” Season 9 rumors are once again making the rounds online, and fans are asking whether or not its mother network, Showtime, will be reviving the crime drama series. The reason for the noise is that the anniversary of the show is just a month away and people are speculating that the antihero will once again go on a killing spree, OtakuArt reported.
Unfortunately, most of the promotions aren’t coming from Showtime and the posters being shared around the internet are made by fans. But there’s still a possibility that “Dexter” Season 9 will return as Michael C. Hall previously said that he’s open to reviving the series.
However, Hall did say that if Showtime wants him to re-sign and play the antihero again, then writers should create a solid plotline. It can be recalled that following the brilliant storytelling of the fourth installment, the show quickly deteriorated and riveting characters were reduced to one-dimensional versions of themselves. If “Dexter” Season 9 is ever going to happen, then Showtime needs to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.
The ending of season 8 was deemed to have been rushed and poorly executed, disappointing longtime followers of the show and receiving bad reviews from critics. So how likely is it that “Dexter” Season 9 will be picked up by its mother network again?
Well, there isn’t any news coming from Showtime at the moment and many articles that are being published are mere speculations. “Dexter” Season 9 is likely not going to happen this year or anytime soon, unfortunately.
What’s more, Michael C. Hall is currently involved in Netflix’s crime-mystery drama “Safe.” So even if Showtime did try to make “Dexter” Season 9, then they would first need to adjust Hall’s schedule, not to mention bring in the other cast members, who are also busy with their own respective projects.
