Roblox Corp. said it has identified the cause of the outage that has plagued it for at least a second straight day and is performing the necessary engineering and maintenance work to get Roblox back up and running.
While the San Mateo, California-based video game company did not announce the cause, Roblox said the outage wasn’t tied to a specific partnership on its platform.
The global outage, which began on October 29, 2021, coincided with the opening of a virtual Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. restaurant on Roblox.
The fast-food chain's offer of $1 million in free burritos and other items created a surge in usage over the Halloween weekend.
Users expressed their concerns via Twitter, with some saying it’s led to panic attacks.
Even Shopify Inc. CEO Tobi Lutke weighed in, saying that it's crazy that Roblox is still down.
“Sending love and empathy to their ops team,” Lutke quipped.
