Domino’s Japan is celebrating tsukimi season with the new Tsukimi Quattro Pizza, available from September 9-29. Featuring four distinct flavors and a focus on egg as the star ingredient, this limited-edition pizza offers a rich taste experience designed for autumn nights.
Domino’s Japan Elevates Tsukimi Season with New Quattro Pizza, Featuring Four Bold Flavors
When the tsukimi ("moon-viewing") season arrives in early autumn, fast food chains across Japan introduce limited-edition tsukimi-themed items to celebrate the occasion. Among these offerings, Domino's Japan's moon-viewing pizza has emerged as one of the most popular, selling out in less than a week last year.
Domino's Japan is raising the stakes this year with the new Tsukimi Quattro pizza. To avoid last year's quick sell-out, the chain has increased its stock of raw ingredients by fivefold. At a pre-release tasting event in Tokyo, reporter P.K. Sanjun sampled the new pizza and compared it to last year's version.
According to SoraNews24, the key ingredient in the Tsukimi Quattro is egg, a staple in tsukimi dishes due to the round yolk's resemblance to the full moon. This year's pizza maintains the Quattro style, featuring four distinct flavors. The 2023 version's Creamy Egg Genovese has been replaced with a new Cheeseburger Pizza, alongside the returning Teri Chiki Egg, Creamy Egg & Bacon, and Creamy Egg & Four Mushrooms.
Priced from 1,890 yen (US$13.04) for a small, the Tsukimi Quattro boasts more robust flavors than last year’s. Each quarter features a unique sauce—white sauce, Camembert cheese sauce, demi-glace sauce, and mayonnaise sauce—providing a variety of flavors. P.K. was particularly impressed by the pronounced egg flavor, which stood out despite the rich ingredients in each slice.
Tsukimi Quattro Pizza Crafted for Pairing with Drinks, Perfect for Autumn Moon Viewing
The robust flavors are intentionally crafted to pair well with alcohol, making the Tsukimi Quattro an ideal companion for moon viewing. The abundance of white-based sauces, with no tomato sauce, gives the pizza a heavier profile, which P.K. noted would pair nicely with a drink.
Domino's Japan offers a limited-edition "Pizza Bento" featuring the Creamy Egg & Bacon pizza, priced at 990 yen for those dining alone. Both the Quattro and Bento pizzas are hearty and flavorful, perfect for the cooler days and nights of early autumn. These pizzas will be available from September 9 to September 29, making them a fitting choice for enjoying the rising moon on tsukimi night, which falls on September 17 this year.
