Despite the ongoing Senate impeachment trial for President Donald Trump, he still manages to get on the nerves of many people on social media. Recently the President retweeted a tweet with some choice words for New York congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.
Politicalflare reports that Trump retweeted a tweet by Mark Levin, a conservative radio show host. Levin shared the link of a Fox Business Article quoting New York congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, saying “You don’t make a billion dollars, you take a billion dollars.” Levin criticized the congresswoman, saying that she is an “embarrassing, barely literate moron.” The tweet somehow got the attention of Trump who retweeted it, suggesting that he agrees with Levin’s criticism on Ocasio-Cortez.
Talking to Ta-Nehisi Coates, Ocasio-Cortez went on to explain that billionaires made the money off the work of undocumented people, likening it to modern-day slavery. “You didn’t make those widgets! You were sitting on a couch while thousands of people were paid modern-day slave wages, and in some cases real modern-day slavery...you made that money off the backs of undocumented people,” said Ocasio-Cortez.
But that is not the only tweet from Levin that Trump retweeted. He also retweeted Levin’s criticisms of the impeachment trial that is still in progress at the Senate. Levin called the impeachment trial a “disgraceful spectacle” among other things.
No matter what Trump says about his impeachment trial, it still goes on, and CNN reports that more evidence has emerged to testify against Trump, as the Democratic Impeachment Managers have tapes that would have Trump incriminate himself. Due to the Republicans blocking any new witnesses to come forward and testify, the prosecution resorted once again to the tapes of the president himself.
Lead impeachment manager Representative Adam Schiff aired a clip of the President saying, “I have, in Article II, where I have the right to do whatever I want as President.” The incriminating tapes reportedly shed more light on the President’s activities, including depicting him as the mastermind behind the scheme to pressure Ukraine for political favors.
The tapes also seem to put the Republican senators who are also the jurors on the spot as they confronted them with direct evidence of what the Democrats would say justifies as “outlandish, impeachable behavior.” In terms of the Republicans blocking new witnesses, Schiff revealed a clip of Trump taken on December 3rd where the president was saying “When it’s fair, and it will be fair in the Senate, I would love to have Mike Pompeo, I’d love to have Mick (Mulvaney), I’d love to have Rick Perry and many other people testify.”
