Wearing contact lenses can do wonders for your self-confidence. Whether you buy prescription lenses to have a better field of vision or colored contacts just to revamp your look, it is very important that you know what to do and what to avoid with your lenses. Are you aware of all the do’s and dont’s with contact lenses? Keep reading to find out:
DO’s
1. See a doctor: Lenses need to fit properly with the shape of your eyes. Before you start wearing colored or normal lenses, you need to see a doctor to determine the right size of the lens you require. Even if you need non-prescription colored lenses, you should still see a doctor. Try Bella lenses if you are in the market for colored lenses, also the Anesthesia Vegas Pearl for a completely natural look.
If you have any issues like redness, itchiness or blurred vision, go see a doctor immediately.
2. Clean your lenses: Proper lens care is extremely important. You must place your lenses in a lens case and pour lens cleaning solution to clean them overnight. Not doing so can cause infections due to bacteria and dirt that your lenses can collect.
3. Wash your hands: Before you insert your lenses, always wash your hands with a non-scented soap and dry your hands with a lint-free towel or tissue.
4. Clean your lens case: Wash your lens case once a week with soap and water. Rinse it under running water and dry them with a clean lint-free tissue.
5. Handle your lenses correctly: While cleaning your lenses, choose a clean flat surface.
6. Blink regularly: Blinking frequently will keep your lens moist and clean and prevent you from getting uncomfortable.
7. Keep glasses handy: In case you lose or tear your lenses, you might want to keep a pair of lenses handy. It is recommended that you keep your glasses up to date.
8. Close your eyes when spraying anything on your skin or hair: Sprays can leave a residual film so always close your eyes when using toners or hairsprays.
9. Wear swimming goggles: There are special goggles that double up as lenses to help you see and swim at the same time.
10. Wear protective goggles: If you are gardening, sanding or in a dusty environment, wear protective glasses to prevent any foreign particle from going into your eyes.
DONT’S
1. Wear your lenses if you are sick: If you are under the weather, remove your lenses and switch to glasses.
2. Wear your lenses if your eyes are red: If your eyes are red or you feel uncomfortable, don’t wear your lenses. You can make the situation worse.
3. Place your lens in your mouth: Never put your lens in your mouth to wet or clean them.
4. Use tap water: Cleaning your lenses with tap water is a bad idea. Only use the lens solution to clean your lenses.
5. Rub your eyes: You should never rub your eyes while wearing lenses as this can lead to irritation, redness, and even blurred vision.
6. Exchange lenses: Even if you and your friend or a family member have the same eye power or if you are wearing colored lenses with no power whatsoever, don’t exchange lenses. This can lead to an infection which can be potentially fatal.
7. Leave your lenses exposed: Keep the lens case closed and away from heat.
