McDonald’s has reintroduced the Double Big Mac, offering fans a super-sized take on the iconic burger. Featuring four beef patties and twice the special sauce, this limited-time favorite is back nationwide until Nov. 19, though some fans are cautious after recent changes to McRib’s preparation.
McDonald’s Doubles Down with Limited-Time Double Big Mac, But Fans Remain Cautious
The Big Mac is iconic, rivaling McDonald’s golden arches in recognizability. So, how does one enhance a classic? By doubling it, of course. McDonald’s has reintroduced the Double Big Mac, delighting fans with this limited-time option following a brief return over the summer.
This super-sized version features all the beloved elements of the original but doubles up on beef. It boasts four 100% British and Irish beef patties, twice the special Big Mac sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun. Available at participating locations nationwide, the Double Big Mac will be around only until November 19, giving fans a brief window to indulge.
While the Double Big Mac has earned praise online, with fans calling it "yummy" and "God tier," it has also raised concerns among loyal McDonald’s enthusiasts. Fans noted a significant change after the recent reintroduction of the McRib—a cult favorite that rarely appears in the UK. A viral TikTok video shared by @madaboutmaccies showed that instead of dipping the pork patty into a pot of sauce as in the past, McDonald’s now applies the sauce directly onto the bun with a squeeze bottle. Many fans felt the updated method left the McRib "dry," with some commenting that McDonald’s had "messed up" or "ruined" the sandwich.
As a result, some fans are cautiously cautiously approaching the return of the Double Big Mac, with one Reddit user commenting, “I can’t trust McDonald’s after the state of my McRib.”
Double Big Mac Sparks Calls for Big Tasty’s Return as Fans Await Holiday Menu
The Double Big Mac’s comeback has also reignited a long-standing debate, with some fans calling for the return of another popular item, the Big Tasty. When the Double Big Mac first launched in the UK in 2020, McDonald’s received numerous comments on social media asking for the Big Tasty instead. “But the people wanted the Big Tasty,” one user wrote, while others echoed the sentiment with passionate appeals across social platforms.
However, Big Tasty fans may still have something to look forward to this season. McDonald’s is set to announce its Christmas offerings later this month, and rumors suggest that the Big Tasty could be part of the seasonal menu lineup.
