Fans have been eagerly waiting for the second season of “Dr. Stone” and they could not wait for its arrival. The first season concluded in December 2019 so it has been almost a year since the anime has been off-the-air and this only made the viewers more excited to see what is up next in Senku Ishigami’s story.
The good news is that details about the upcoming season 2 have been released already. At this point, with the available new trailers and updates from the show, we now know more about the second installment including when it will return and its plot.
The trailer and a new arc
In the very first trailer for this Japanese anime, it was revealed that it will present a new arc called the “Stone Wars.” Apparently, Senku and his friends will have to fight in a battle and Tsukasa and his empire would be their opponent.
It will be like the new age vs. the stone age battle since Tsukasa will still stick to the old ways while Senku will surely use Science to beat them. Then again, it may not be an easy war since Tsukasa will be expanding his empire.
It was also hinted that Senku will build a new civilization as well but this would be like is still a mystery that can only be seen when “Dr. Stone” season 2 returns. Based on some predictions, Taiju and Yuzuriha will also be back in this new arc. They were Senku’s followers but there is a theory that they may betray him and join Tsukasa’s group.
Released date and streaming details
There is no exact premiere date for the next episodes yet but as per Crunchyroll, it will be out in January 2021. Originally, TMI Entertainment planned to released the anime in July and it was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, fans who want to review the story from the first season up to the third installment, they can head to Funimation, Hulu and Crunchyroll for streaming. This Japanese animation is mainly about Senku Ishigami, a teenaged Science genius who was one of the firsts to awaken after being frozen for thousands of years. He has yet to discover how the petrification happened and froze them all.
