“Dragon Ball Super: Broly” will see the beloved heroes of the franchise go against one of the most iconic and powerful villains ever to be introduced in it. Details about the plot are being kept secret, although there are hints out there that give fans some idea how the storyline will unfold, Comicbook reported.
First, some background of this villain. As the title suggests, “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” will have Broly as the main antagonist, who will go against Goku and Vegeta. Broly was first introduced in the “Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan,” where the character was described as someone with unlimited power and uncontrollable rage.
Fans of the anime very well know that rage and overflowing emotions are vital to unlocking the next power level of Saiyans, but Broly is on a tier of his own. In the original introduction of the character, he was described as a unique Saiyan transformation that occurs every 1,000 years. However, it’s still unclear if “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” will follow this origin story.
What’s been revealed so far is that Broly will have some sort of connection with Freeza, the destruction of planet Vegeta, and what became of the other Saiyan infants sent across the universe to conquer other worlds. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” will also impact what path the series will take as it is expected that the introduction of this overpowered character will open new avenues for the anime’s storyline.
What’s more, it would seem that Goku will not have his Ultra Instinct feature in the film. Meanwhile, Vegeta will be granted his Super Saiyan Blue Evolution power, as can be seen in the character designs released. Aside from the legendary Saiyan, “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” will also feature Freeza, although it’s unclear what his role is going to be.
“Dragon Ball Super: Broly” is scheduled to hit theaters in Japan on Dec.14. Fans in the U.S. should expect the film to drop sometime in January 2019.
