The upcoming movie for “Dragon Ball Super” will be titled “Dragon Ball Super: Broly,” and it will feature the return of one of the franchise’s most well-known and brutal antagonists. Many fans of the anime property will likely be aware of this monstrous Saiyan and will understand the significance of his appearance. The movie will also feature another conflict with Freeza.
Now that the actual Tournament of Power arc in “Dragon Ball Super” has ended, Freeza no longer has a reason to team-up with the Saiyans of Earth. As Comicbook.com notes, at the end of the tournament, he declared that he was going back to being evil right after he was resurrected. It seems he was not making an idle threat if his army’s appearance in “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” is anything to go by.
One of the biggest functions of the upcoming “Dragon Ball Super” movie, aside from being an excuse to showcase Broly’s unstoppable force, is to set the future plot of the show. The showdown between Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of the gang with Freeza likely won’t be featured that heavily in the movie. However, it will at least make the future developments in the anime more sensible.
It would also appear that Bulma is once again trying to gather the Dragon Balls for one reason or another, Otaku Art notes, which is quite fitting, in a way. The whole franchise was started with the blue-haired explorer also doing the same thing. Doing it again might have some plot significance in the “Dragon Ball Super” movie.
As for the rest of the Z Fighters, there is no information yet on Piccolo and the rest of the team’s role in the movie. It’s likely that they’ll have a minor part to play, however, since the fights in the “Dragon Ball Super” film might be a bit too much for them to handle.
