The 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is almost here, but the preceding months revealed much about the event that has gamers worried about the expo’s quality. For one thing, “Activision,” “Disney Interactive” and “Wargaming” are not attending the event at the LA Convention Center. Rather, they’ll join “Electronic Arts” and do their own exhibit and presentation at LA Live. “Nintendo” also revealed that they will only showcase the new “Legend of Zelda” as a playable game during the event. Considering “Sony’s” impressive sales in terms of their “PS4” console, E3 2016 will likely serve as the venue for the company to claim the crown.
Now, the departure of the four major video game companies from the conference is said to have no impact on the event’s success, according to the organizers of E3; that would be the Entertainment Software Association. Whether or not this is true and whether or not the conflicting schedule won’t affect attendees remains to be seen. For a reference of the schedules, Mirror provides an outline of when the big names that will attend the event will have their own presentations.
On the matter of “Nintendo’s” decision to only feature the new “Legend of Zelda” title as a playable game during the event, odds are there will also be some new titles shown or hinted at. Whether or not it will be through E3 or during “Nintendo’s” Treehouse Live event is the question.
Finally, “Sony” has simply dominated the console market with the “PlayStation 4,” selling over 40 million units to date. This already makes the Japanese company eligible for bragging rights during the event, but they are not stopping there. With more exclusive titles coming up and new features to add to their latest hardware upgrade, along with VR-compatibility, The Verge expects “Sony” to emerge as the clear dominant force during the E3.
Among the “PS4”-exclusive titles that fans are looking forward to include are the post-apocalyptic RPG “Horizon Zero Dawn,” the much anticipated “No Man’s Sky”, and “The Final Guardian.” Rumors are also circulating that sequels to both “The Last Of Us” and “God Of War” might be announced during the press conference.
