COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 15, 2016 -- Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the world’s leading provider of critical infrastructure for information and communications technology systems, today introduced more efficient, more flexible, high-capacity models to its Liebert® CW line of chilled water cooling systems for data centers.
The new configurations, in 340 kW and 440 kW capacities, considerably reduce energy consumption and the cost of deployment and maintenance for larger data centers, while maintaining reliability. The new models are available in North America.
Energy efficiency is improved by up to 25 percent through the use of new technologies, including valve auto-tuning controls and optimized coil designs that better utilize higher entering water temperatures. For a 5-megawatt data center, that can mean around $150,000 in annual energy savings, compared to using a larger number of smaller cooling units to achieve the same capacity.
Large data centers face the critical challenge of balancing efficiency and reliability with the need for easily deployed capacity. Using the higher capacity Liebert CW units can reduce the number of units required in a data center by 62 percent, as well as installation and maintenance costs versus using smaller units. Additionally, the new units reduce the use of white space by up to 29 percent.
Liebert CW is equipped with intelligent Liebert iCOMTM thermal controls, which enable higher protection and efficiency by monitoring hundreds of unit data points, providing unit-to-unit communications for teamwork and automating self-healing routines.
“Our larger data center customers want to save energy and quickly add capacity in ways that reduce installation times and costs,” said John Peter Valiulis, vice president of thermal management marketing for Emerson Network Power in North America. “These new configurations let them see a much faster payback than previous systems.”
