The synopsis for “Civil Hands Unclean” posted on TV Guide reads, “Angelo's (Taye Diggs) relationship with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) turns toxic and leaves her questioning her decisions; at the same time, Hakeem (Bryshere Gray)makes a public plea for Lucious (Terrence Howard) to give him paternity of Bella during his return to Empire Xstream.
Meanwhile, Cookie becomes increasingly more suspicious of Lucious' intentions with Giuliana (Nia Long) and Empire's future in Vegas; and Lucious and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) work overtime to finish their albums.”
In the upcoming episode, Cookie is set to navigate the troubled waters of her relationship with Angelo as it takes a turn for the worst. This will leave her doubting the decisions that she has recently made. She will also grow suspicious of Lucious’ real intentions with Giuliana and how it connects with Empire’s fate in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Eva Longoria talked about her character’s important story arc on the series. The ‘Desperate Housewives’ star made her debut as the powerful Las Vegas gaming commissioner, Charlotte Frost, in the previous episode “Love Is A Smoke.” Lucious feels that he must woo Charlotte in order to establish his business in the bustling city that never sleeps.
When asked about how she came to join the cast, she admitted that she already knew co-creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong beforehand before they invited her to guest star on the series. She also revealed that Howard enticed her do the part, which intrigued her despite not knowing much about the character.
Longoria said, “I just wanted her to have a purpose… To plug somebody into this Lyon family is no easy feat, so when [Ilene Chaiken] explained to me I would be playing Charlotte Frost and that basically the hopes and dreams of Lucious breaking into Vegas lies in her hands.”
When asked about Charlotte’s role in the subsequent episodes, she teased, “The next couple episodes are really when we get into their history. Actually, I have a history with Nia Long's character…The power that I have as the gaming commissioner of Las Vegas, she knows nothing comes to Vegas without going through me.”
She continued, “You find out in the next several episodes that Charlotte's a bit of a hard-ass and Lucious' normal charm doesn't work on her because she A) doesn't drink, B) is Mormon, C) is really conservative. So his wine-and-dine usual technique has been falling on deaf ears. So he has to think of a different strategy with Charlotte.”
‘Empire’ season 3’s episode 15, titled “Civil Hands Unclean,” is scheduled to air on May 3, 2017 on Fox. It will be followed by episode 16, titled "Absent Child," scheduled to be released on May 10.
