BURBANK, Calif., Oct. 03, 2017 -- EstrellaTV, the fastest growing, minority owned Spanish-language broadcasting network in the U.S. finished the 2016-17 season up 14% Total Day, while its main competitors had a declining or flat audience trends.
According to recent 2016-2017 Full Season Nielsen results, Los Angeles based EstrellaTV experienced audience growth across all day parts, while the entirety of Hispanic television paced virtually flat to down in the US(1).
While Univision and Telemundo experienced significant declines or remained relatively flat, EstrellaTV has been the exception in the Spanish-language television space by consistently expanding its share of the Hispanic media landscape in the US. EstrellaTV continues to drive new viewers across the country with its fast-paced, original and dynamic programming. During Early Fringe (MF 3P-7P) EstrellaTV experienced a historical 50% increase versus declines for Univision (-9%), UniMas (-12%) and Telemundo (-3%).
“EstrellaTV’s key success drivers lie in the high quality and outstanding programming options we offer our audience. Latino viewers are no longer settling for the tired telenovela and narco series formats that our competitors have boxed themselves into. US Hispanics are demanding more relevant, dynamic and entertaining content that speaks to them. EstrellaTV delivers programs that are culturally relevant and that are made in the US by Latinos living here; that’s one part of the formula for our ongoing success,” stated Lenard Liberman, CEO, LBI Media, parent company to EstrellaTV Network.
