After recent reports that suggested that Facebook’s iOS 9 app excessively draining iPhone’s battery, Facebook said in a post that it has found a few key issues causing the problem.
Issue 1: CPU Spin – repeated processing that causes the app to use more battery than intended.
Issue 2: Audio Sessions – if a user leaves the Facebook app after watching a video, the audio session sometimes stays open “as if the app was playing audio silently”. Facebook said that the app is not actually doing anything while awake in the background, but uses more battery simply by being awake.
The social networking site further said that it has released a latest version of the app addressing the above issues. Regarding the audio issue it said, “Our fixes will solve this audio issue and remove background audio completely”.
Facebook further said that it has not found issues that are caused by the optional Location History feature in the Facebook app or anything related to location.
Further, it apologized for the inconvenience saying, “We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We are committed to continuing to improve the battery usage of our app and you should see improvements in the version released today.”
