Facebook has now become a service that users of all ages are hooked on. As a result, teens have resorted to using other social media outlets to get away from the crowded space such as Snapchat. Facebook couldn’t have that, though, which is why it released “Lifestage”; an app that is specifically geared towards the younger generation of users.
As Engadget notes, Facebook has been hard at work in trying to capture the interest of the younger generation for a while now, with such attempts as “Facebook Live” and the new “Stories” feature on Instagram. The biggest social network in the world isn’t done yet, however, as it is now releasing a new standalone app that is specifically made for teens called “Lifestage.”
With “Lifestage,” users will need to complete their profiles by taking pictures of various activities that correspond with the various requirements. Some examples include taking photos of likes and dislikes, compiling different facial expressions and even taking a video along with their BFF. In terms of catering to exactly what teens care about, it would certainly seem like the app has completely hit the ball right out of the park.
For those who want to try out this app but are over 21 years old, the service might not have that much to offer, PC Mag reports. Those who are 21 years and under can check out each other’s profiles and others of the same age range can do the same. For those 22 and above, they can only view the profiles of users who are the same age or older.
Aside from the age range-specific aspect of the app, it also comes with tools to combat inappropriate behavior that users can take advantage of. For activities that can be classified as offensive or abusive, a quick swipe on the profile is all it takes to report the user.
