It would seem that the “Fallout 76” hate train is showing no signs of stopping. A starkly clear example of this is when Bethesda announced that it would be giving away free “Fallout” games to those who bought the online title. However, where such news would have been met with celebration from fans at any other time, this particular news was marred with backlash from the community.
In a recent Tweet, Bethesda announced that it would be giving away classic “Fallout” games to reward those who bought and logged on to “Fallout 76” in 2018. The games would become available by January to those who are interested.
“ANYONE who logged into the full release of #Fallout76 in 2018 will receive an entitlement for Fallout Classic Collection on PC. This applies to Xbox One and PS4 players, too,” the Tweet reads. “The entitlement is expected to go live in early January.”

Unfortunately for the company, this news did not go over well with the fans and for a very sad reason. While Bethesda tried to frame this giveaway as a means of rewarding loyal gamers, it was instead viewed as something of an apology and a way to get back into the good graces of the players. A quick glance at the replies to the Tweet would make this clear enough, with the hatred for “Fallout 76” being evident
Far from being received as a goodwill gesture, many fans of the company basically took this move as a slap in the face. What’s more, the offer will not really benefit player with PCs and those who are playing “Fallout 76” on consoles are essentially left out. Suffice it to say, this particular giveaway is not going like Bethesda hoped it would and it will need to do much more to regain the trust of the community.
