As a result of their decision to stand back from being senior royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be stripped of their HRH titles. But the move also allows them greater freedom than before and the Sussexes might even decide to give show or film production a try.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just lost their HRH titles following “intense negotiations” that ended on Saturday, Daily Mail reported. But just like in Princess Diana’s case, Harry will still be known as Duke of Sussex while Meghan will still be called Duchess of Sussex.
Despite losing their HRH titles, being no longer senior members of the royal family present some advantages for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. They now have the freedom to do what they want and that includes going into a partnership with Netflix for the production of films or shows.
In fact, Netflix already expressed its interest in entering into a partnership with the Sussexes. “'Who wouldn't be interested? Yes, sure,” Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos said.
But for Meghan Markle, being free from royal duties also means that she can pursue her acting career once more. After all, she was once a cast member of one of the most popular legal dramas in Hollywood, USA Network’s “Suits.”
Highly imaginative fans have already picked up a show perfect for the Duchess of Sussex. Since she already knows the ins and outs of the royal family, she would be perfect for Netflix’s royal family-focused “The Crown.”
However, not just any role will do. As the Duchess of Sussex, only Meghan Markle knows how to play the part to perfection when the show’s plot eventually touches on their exit from royal life.
“She has acting skills,” one fan commented on Twitter. “She could audition for the next series of The Crown on Netflix, playing the role of Meghan Markle.”
However, it might take some time before her character as Meghan Markle will appear on the show. “The Crown” Season 4, which is yet to air, is going to feature Princess Diana’s relationship with Prince Charles. It’s highly likely that the lives of Prince William and Prince Harry will only become the subject in the show’s fifth or sixth season.
“Can’t wait for all of this to be depicted in The Crown - this has got to mean a series 5 or 6 is going to happen!” one fan commented. “Wonder is Meghan will play herself.”
