“Fantastic Beasts 2” is the sequel to the movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them” starring Eddie Redmayne as the protagonist, Newt Scamander. The upcoming movie will be dealing with the wizarding war that was only hinted at in the first film. In recent interviews, the cast of the movie revealed some great details about the characters and the plot.
The main cast will be making their return for “Fantastic Beasts 2,” while some new faces will be added. Among the additional characters will be a young Albus Dumbledore, who will be played by Jude Law. In a recent interview with Collider, Eddie Redmayne talks about his character’s dynamic with Dumbledore. He also reveals how important it was for Jude Law to play the part.
“I’ve known Jude for many years socially and admired his work, and when we got to play, it was really playful. And he has that sort of twinkle in his eye that Dumbledore always [has], that was, I think, so important in the depictions of Dumbledore in the films, and certainly was really important to J.K. Rowling,” the actor said.
Fans of the “Harry Potter” books will be quite familiar with how the author, J.K. Rowling described the famed headmaster of Hogwarts. Among his most prominent features is the constant twinkle in his eyes behind half-moon spectacles. This is why it was very important to find an actor who will play the character in “Fantastic Beast 2” to have such eyes.
In a different piece, Collider also featured an interview with actor Callum Turner, who plays the role of Theseus, the older brother of Newt Scamander. The performer describes how his character is the complete opposite of Newt in that he is quite rigid about the rules. Fans will see how this relationship works out when “Fantastic Beasts 2” premieres on Nov. 16, 2018.
