There are a lot of things about “Fear the Walking Dead Season 4” to love, but there are also plenty of things about it to hate. This season has been riddled with narrative and acting issues, with many of the episodes being criticized for being incredibly boring. In “Fear The Walking Dead Season 4” Episode 10, however, the show provides a glimpse of what it could be. [Spoilers Ahead].
As Forbes notes in its review, episode 10 of “Fear the Walking Dead Season 4” titled “Close Your Eyes” is one of this season’s best yet. It’s a refreshing and somewhat startling change, especially since it transitions from the bland episodes that came before it. Many fans and critics have complained that those were difficult to slog through, and which the most recent episode gave them a reprieve from.
Digital Spy argues that a lot of this is due to the increased focus on Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), which made the recent episode as gripping as it was. It was an episode without Morgan (Lennie James), which shows what “Fear the Walking Dead Season 4” could be if it stuck more closely to Alicia.
The episode largely centered on the character’s struggle on how to deal with Charlie (Alexa Nisenson), who killed her brother. By being stuck in the same house after a storm, the pair hit a conflict that eventually culminated in the two females getting stuck in a flooding basement. As tense sequences go, this was definitely one of the best in “Fear the Walking Dead Season 4.”
Alycia Debnam-Carey’s performance during this episode was simply phenomenal. It exhibits how good of a show “Fear The Walking Dead Season 4” could have been if it had placed more emphasis on her character. Unfortunately, future episodes will likely bring back the bland acting and narrative that were the main points of criticisms of this season.
Episode 11 of “Fear the Walking Dead Season 4” will air on Sunday, Aug. 26 on AMC. It will focus heavily on Morgan and his journey to go back home.
