“Final Fantasy VII: Remake” has been the talk of the gaming community ever since its trailer was unveiled three years ago. And with Square Enix recently finishing “Kingdom Hearts 3,” developers have now shifted most of their focus in creating the reimagining.
In the latest issue of Famitsu, game director Tetsuya Nomura was asked for comments about 2019 and he only released two. One is “seven,” while the other is “various presentations to be released.” Obviously, Nomura is referring to “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” with his second statement possibly alluding to more revelations of the reimagining next year.
Game producer Yoshinori Kitase was also asked for comments and the keyword he said was “long-awaited.” Kitase also added that “development on ‘Final Fantasy VII: Remake’ is progressing smoothly! I would like to try hard to meet the expectations of fans.”
This coincides with Nomura’s previous statement saying that Square Enix have now ramped up their efforts in creating the much-anticipated title. While it’s unlikely that “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” will be released next year, it appears that Nomura and Kitase will be revealing more information about the reimagining soon.
It’s heavily speculated that these unveiling will occur on the release date of “Kingdom Hearts 3,” which is slated on Jan. 29, 2019. Fans are hoping that the announcement will include a gameplay trailer that would provide some solid ideas how “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” is shaping up.
Nomura said that the reimagining will not have an ATB (Action Time Battle) game mechanic but will be outfitted with a real-time battle instead. This decision caused quite an uproar among the hardcore following of the original title as they feel that an ATB playstyle suits “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” better. However, the game director is adamant that a real-time combat system is the best option for the upcoming title and said that they are moving forward with this decision.
