SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 07, 2017 -- Finisar (NASDAQ:FNSR) today introduced a new member to its family of high-speed photodetectors. The 100GHz Balanced Detector (BPDV4121) is a key enabler for the next generation of Optical Test and Measurement equipment, enabling operating frequencies in excess of 100GHz. It is the fastest detector on the market and enables coherent signal detection and characterization up to 160 Gbaud. The new detector will be displayed at OFC 2017 from March 21 to 23 at the Los Angeles Convention Center at Finisar’s booth #2403.
Designed for next-generation high bit-rate transmission systems, the new Finisar high-speed photodetector provides the ability to measure, characterize and verify performance accurately and in real-time. The ever-increasing baud rates required for coherent transmission require high-frequency optical modulation analyzers, sampling scopes, and real-time scopes to perform the required verification tests. This new detector operates in the C-band, and comes in a hermetic package equipped with a connector suitable for 100GHz+ RF connections. Other key features include high responsivity and low polarization dependent loss (PDL).
This week Lightwave awarded Finisar an “Innovations Review Award” for the new BPDV4121 100 GHz balanced detector. This Lightwave program recognizes top products and solutions newly available within the optical networking industry. The product was awarded a high score of 4.5 and will receive special recognition at the OFC exhibition this month.
The BPDV4121 product is sampling now with general availability later this month. For more information about Finisar’s family of photodetector products, please visit www.finisar.com.
