‘Food Wars’ Season 4 Release Date: How Will JC Staff Handle Adaptation Now That Source Material is Insufficient

News surrounding “Food Wars” Season 4 has been scarce for months leaving fans worried that the next installment might be delayed further. Or worse, canceled.

Among the reasons driving this apprehension is the lack of manga chapters that “Food Wars” Season 4 might adapt in the anime. The previous installment took 97 chapters from its source material, starting from chapter 120 and ending in chapter 217.

At the moment, the manga is at chapter 307 with 308 slated for release on April 21. This means that “Food Wars” Season 4 only has 91 chapters as its source material, which may not be enough to produce a two-cour installment.

Of course, JC Staff can simply wait for more chapters to drop so it can accommodate a two-cour entry, but that would mean delaying the anime further. “Food Wars” Season 4 is already proving the longest installment to drop having been absent for 10 months and counting.

So how will JC Staff handle this? Well, they may have already worked on the first cour of “Food Wars” Season 4 and some materials they can gather for some parts of the second cour. Then, they can simply release the first cour, take a few months off again to animate the remaining chapters, then drop the second cour sometime later.

This process already has precedence since the previous installment was handled somewhat the same way. The first cour aired between October and December of 2017, while the second was released between April and June. As for what will happen in “Food Wars” Season 4, the second bout between the Rebel and Central will be featured in its premiere.

Kuga and Tsukasa will be facing off during this match with green tea the main emphasis of their dish. This cook-off is highly anticipated by fans since it’s a revenge matchup between the two aspiring chefs. Regarding the release date of “Food Wars” Season 4, nothing has been confirmed just yet but speculations are pointing towards June and September.
