'Food Wars' season 4 finale: Soma grabs First Seat, Erina becomes Totsuki's new Headmaster; Season 5 premieres April 2020

The “Food Wars” season 4 finale, or episode 12, will most probably pick up exactly where last week’s installment concluded. Everyone rooting for the Rebel Alliance celebrates while Erina and Soma share an adorable moment. She tells Soma that his improvisation will be forgiven for now because they won.

At one point in “Food Wars” season 4, episode 12, Tsukasa wonders out loud how Soma and Erina managed to make a great combination of dishes despite being their questionable teamwork. Isshiki explains that it could be because they are the ones who enjoy cooking the most.

As Azami leaves, Erina thinks to herself that her father still did many things for her, and for that, she is grateful. Then, the highlight of “Food Wars” season 4, episode 12, is deciding who is taking the First Seat. Many immediately assume it is Erina, but she believes Soma deserves it more because of his greater contribution to the Regimental Shokugeki.

Before Soma can fully agree, Sanzaemon joins the talks and declares to the new Elite Ten his decision to retire in “Food Wars” season 4, episode 12. He then asks Soma who should take his position, to which Yukihira says it should be Erina. Soma says he will only take the First Seat if she becomes the new director while Sanzaemon reiterates Erina is the only one deserving of that position. She will eventually agree.

The “Food Wars” season 4 finale will most likely focus on the celebrations and how the new members of Elite Ten Council adjust to their new positions and responsibilities. It could also be a chance to transition into the next story arc, where the main characters start their sophomore year.

‘Food Wars’ season 5 announced, to premiere in April 2020

Even before the Fourth Plate started, many fans have been wondering if this is the final installment of the anime since the manga series had already concluded last summer. This was answered at the Jump Fest 2020 held over the weekend where “Food Wars” season 5 was officially announced.

This was followed by the confirmation that “Food Wars” season 4 episode 12, airing on Saturday, Dec. 28, will be the final episode of the Fourth Plate. Season 5 will premiere sometime in April 2020.
