Fortnite Battle Royale Map Revamped, Adds Towering Buildings And Underground Mines

Even though Fortnite Battle Royale is still in its incredibly early stages, the game has already been downloaded 40 million times, making it possibly the biggest game in the western market. The developer behind the game, Epic Games recently released a new version of the map, adding way more stuff. There are new points of interest all over the place and there are even new buildings.

The map update also comes with a slew of new patches, Game Rant notes, detailing what sweet additions or tweaks Epic brought to the table this time. Aside from making the overhead view of the map much more detailed, the difference between sections of the different areas has also been emphasized.

Basically, going to the Moisty Mire will now feel obviously distinct than when going to Salty Springs. The update has also given way to a sparkling level-streaming system, which is essentially intended to make the map richer and for the performance to be smoother.

Of course, there’s also the removal of the friendly fire feature of the game, which is meant to stop trolls from killing their own teammates out of spite. This particular decision has caused a minor contention within the community.

Going back to the map changes, Kotaku reports that it makes for more fun and fast-paced gaming sessions. The addition of the new areas, most notably the Tilted Towers, is encouraging players to get in close proximity to each other.

As such, combatants run into each other much more frequently, increasing the tempo and the tension in the game. Epic basically made Battle Royale a more aggressive version of itself.

Where before, players could take their time to gather weapons and ammunition, the new update makes times between encounters much shorter. This should force even veterans of the game to make some changes to their strategies. Some proven tactics in the past might not even work anymore.
