One of the best things about Epic Games’ Fortnite Battle Royale is the many quirky, and often timely events that it provides to its millions of players. Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, it’s only fitting that players would also get such a theme as they try to kill 99 other people in one area. Among the more exciting features of the update is a crossbow that fires unlimited arrows.
A list of the most prominent details with regards to the new update was posted by VG247, which includes new skins to fit the holiday and a few bug fixes. Naturally, a lot of these items will be geared towards offering a more thematic atmosphere when players are on the map, which really helps to keep things fresh.
Hardcore fans of the game might like to know that scoped assault rifles can now actually hit the targets in their crosshairs, for example, and that shotguns now do 200% headshot damage. As if the previous 150% wasn’t enough.
As previously mentioned, however, the most interesting addition that goes along with this new update is the crossbow. Naturally, it’s appropriately themed, with Cupid being the main driving force behind the design.
The weapon is golden and has all the little details that a weapon used during Valentine’s Day needs to have. It also comes with unlimited arrows, which should make for an interesting change of pace, Forbes notes.
It’s worth pointing out that in a game like Fortnite Battle Royale, scrounging for weapons and ammo is a huge part of the experience. With infinite ammo from what would likely be a silent weapon, players have much more to work with in a title that habitually encourages gamers to keep changing the rules.
Ultimately, this is what makes Epic’s game different compared to something like PUBG. While the latter strives to be as gritty and realistic as possible, the former tries to mess with reality as much as possible.
