The wait is over and Epic Games has now decided to stop making the mobile version of its hugely popular 100-player PVP game Fortnite Battle Royale feel like an exclusive club with invitation-only membership. All iOS users can now download the game and play it on their mobile devices. An Android version is already in the works.
With what it seems like every major multiplayer, online game coming to mobile now, including PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and even ARK: Survival Evolved, the prospect of playing titles like Fortnite on the go has been quite the upward trend. For owners of the latest iOS devices, this is possible from today onward, Digital Trends reports.
For those wondering, Fortnite Battle Royale will only work on iPhone SE and up. Any device older than that will have trouble running the fairly demanding game, even though it’s already a significantly downgraded version.
On the other hand, the game is still the same as what is experienced via PCs or consoles. The only difference is that the controls are for touchscreens instead of controllers or mouse and keyboard.
What really makes Epic’s offer so exciting, however, is the prospect of crossplay. Basically, gamers on the mobile version can actually play against those on more powerful platforms. Will this skew the game in favor of the latter? It could, but that’s what makes it so much fun.
In any case, this new development officially opens the mobile game up to all of the possibilities associated with the title. As The Verge notes, one of the most exciting prospects of Fortnite Battle Royale is the fast pace in which updates are delivered and the hugely addictive gameplay. The game is just so much fun to play and together with the intensity of the PVP, it’s no wonder why it’s so popular.
