A set of new gameplay content was released in “Fortnite” on Tuesday as part of the anticipated Chapter 2 Season 6 events. Meanwhile, Epic Games also launched a Nintendo Switch-specific update that lets owners of the console enjoy the battle royale game with higher resolution.
‘Fortnite’ gets gaming resolution boost on Nintendo Switch
The “Fortnite” update on Switch aims to let the game maximize the console’s GPU performance to produce sharper images without affecting the gameplay performance. “The update also provides a more consistent framerate, with fewer hitches, resulting in a smoother experience overall,” Epic said in the announcement.
Meanwhile, the developer also confirmed that the Switch version’s update would enhance the “Fortnite” gaming resolution on both docked and handheld modes. From 1000 x 560 resolution, “Fortnite” will be able to run on 1170 x 660 on handheld mode. When docked and connected to a TV, players should see the game reach up to 1560 x 880 resolution from 1390 x 780 before the update.
While the Switch update is expected to deliver clearer images, it is expected to reduce the “Fortnite” storage requirement allowing players to save as much as 140MB space. But Epic also noted that dynamic resolution will still do its work for Switch players to avoid significant framerate drops.
‘Fortnite’ Chapter 2 Season 6 adds a roster of wildlife prey and predators into the battlefield
Also, starting on Tuesday, “Fortnite” players on all platforms should prepare to encounter wildlife creatures -- including raptors -- across the island. Not all new creatures are going to be dangerous, though, as some of the latest additions belong to the prey category as well.
Players will find hatched eggs in their surroundings, which means raptors are within the vicinity. Epic notes that they will explore the island in pairs and will not hesitate to fight “Fortnite” players. Wolves are predators and territorial by nature, so they can also be aggressive creatures in the game. However, Epic hints players might be able to tame them by bribing them with Meat.
“Fortnite” chapter 2 season 6’s wildlife-themed update will also add boars to the island. Players should be careful not to startle them. Otherwise, they will not waste time and attack to defend themselves.
Players can also disconcert boars intentionally and lead them directly to where enemies are camping out. One of the animals players might want to approach are chickens and frogs as they might just provide them with much-needed crafting items.
